Here, a few families share their experiences of the time before, during and after giving birth with BB Gårda.

First child, December 2024

Having the Midwife Team with us throughout almost the entire pregnancy felt incredibly reassuring. Every question and concern was met with knowledge and humility. The people in the room believed in me, which strengthened my trust in my ability to do this.

I was able to stay in my power, surrounded by people who supported me before, during and after the birth. Our experience at BB Gårda could not have been better. Coming back to the BB Gårda meetings after the birth felt like coming home.

First child, December 2024

Johnny: We wanted to give birth in an environment that felt safe and calm, surrounded by people we already knew. We believe that a secure environment creates better conditions for a positive birth. I experienced an incredible birth – despite the pain and the effort, we both felt calm and focused throughout.

Tesan: We were given the best possible start as a family. I never had to open my eyes or leave my bubble. I always felt safe. The midwives’ balance between presence and giving us space was magical. Crawling into a cosy double bed together as a family on that first night was so special.

Third child, November 2024

After two hospital births, I wanted this time to give birth physiologically and follow my body. It was a completely new experience, and I felt listened to throughout the entire process. I was the one who decided when it was time to come in – which gave me a deep sense of security.

Our two older children were present during the birth, which allowed us to welcome the baby together as a family. The midwives calmly explained what was happening and created a safe environment for the siblings as well.

Second child, March 2025

My journey at BB Gårda has been incredible. The support we received – especially from Cita – was invaluable. The sense of safety we felt before, during and after the birth is difficult to put into words.

The breathing courses and the connection with other expecting couples were both supportive and meaningful. The entire experience became a healing journey for me, as I was finally able to experience my dream birth.

Second child, July 2025

I felt completely secure in Cita’s ability to handle emergency situations and assess whether we would need to transfer to hospital care. That made it possible for me to fully relax and surrender to the process.

When our son was born in the water, I felt stronger than ever. It was an intense, powerful, yet calm and safe experience.

First child, May 2025

We had prepared for over six months for a calm and safe water birth at BB Gårda – an approach that reflected our values and created a deep sense of security, especially since Martin has a strong fear of hospitals. We felt safe there and truly looked forward to the experience.

But in week 36+3, sudden preeclampsia and low platelets were discovered. We were immediately sent to hospital, where an induction was started. It became a medicalised birth that we were not prepared for – with sleep deprivation, worry and significant emotional strain.

The sense of safety came from Cita, who stayed with us throughout – before, during and after the birth. We could not have managed without her. The staff at Östra Hospital were also wonderful. BB Gårda still feels like our “home away from home.” We are so grateful for the sense of community we have gained.
